From Student to Founder to Employer: Partnering with Columbus State Community College to Build the Next Chapter
When I started Bailey Bug, I was a college student looking for opportunities. I was applying for internships, trying to gain experience, and figuring out where I fit in the professional world. Like so many students, I was searching for someone to take a chance on me.
Now, just a few years later, I find myself on the other side of that same table.
This summer, Bailey Bug is partnering with Columbus State Community College to bring on a summer intern for 2026. It is a full circle moment that I do not take lightly.
At a recent career fair at Columbus State, I had the opportunity to meet students who are in the exact position I once was. They showed up prepared, curious, and eager to learn. It was energizing to see that level of drive and to know that Bailey Bug can now be part of someone else’s starting point.
This internship is not just about helping our business grow. It is about creating a real experience for a student to step into something meaningful. At Bailey Bug, we are building more than a product. We are building a mission centered around improving the lives of wheelchair users and making daily routines easier for the people who care for them.
That means our intern will not be doing busy work. They will be part of real projects that matter. They will see how a business operates day to day. They will contribute to marketing, outreach, and growth as we continue to expand into care facilities, schools, and community programs.
Working with Columbus State also aligns with something that has always been important to me. Access. Opportunity. Growth.
Bailey Bug exists to create better solutions for a community that has often been overlooked. Partnering with a college to create opportunities for students feels like a natural extension of that mission. It is about opening doors and making sure more people have the chance to step into something bigger.
I am incredibly excited about what this summer will bring. Not just for Bailey Bug, but for the student who will join us.
Because at one point, that was me. And now, I get to be part of that story for someone else.
