Why Bailey Bug Exists

  • Built from Real Caregiving Needs

Bailey Bug products weren’t designed in a lab. They were created from real, daily challenges faced by adaptive facilities, wheelchair users and their caregivers. Every detail is built to make dressing easier, faster, and more comfortable in real-world care environments.

We are committed to giving back to the community, and we manufacture all our products through ISAIC in Detroit, MI.

  • The Story Behind the Solution

What started as a handmade coat for Bailey became something bigger. Her experience revealed a gap in how traditional clothing fails wheelchair users. This is creating unnecessary frustration for both individuals and caregivers.

Bailey Bug was created to solve that problem.

  • Designed for Dignity and Ease

Bailey was legally deaf and blind. We were not able to communicate with her to find out her favorite color or animal, so she was given the animal, ladybug, by her family. That is where her nickname, Bailey Bug, came to be. Our logo represents a Ladybug and a wheelchair inside of a shield. Warmth, Style, and Safety in one.

Bailey’s Story - Before Bailey Bug became a product used in facilities across the country, it was a solution for one person, Bailey.

Bailey (May 20th, 1996 - February 23rd, 2017) was born with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy. She was legally deaf, blind and used a wheelchair her entire life. However, this never stopped her from radiating love and warmth through every ounce of her body. Although she never spoke a word, we heard her loud and clear. She never took a step, but traveled through all of our hearts.

Bailey is a daughter, a sister and an inspiration to us all. In her innocence,  she gave to us a living model of some of the characteristics which we all strive for; trust, love, patience and hope. Though her journey was full of obstacles, she overcame every challenge with strength and grace.

Bailey made us all understand a deeper, unselfish love; a connection without words, free of judgment and always with grace. Her story needs to be heard; her pure love needs to be shared. Bailey's life was short if measured in years but long if measured in the acts of goodness and accomplishment that she generated in so many others. Bailey will be missed, treasured and always in our hearts.

Her touch has never been so warm.
